Optimized for flavors

The Avocado 24 Bottom Airflow is a RDTA atomizer with a diameter of 24 mm and a height of 47 mm. Designed for an aerial vaping style, it can also cope with lower airflow for more conventional vapers. After an evolution to 24 mm, Geek Vape improved its atomizer with a bottom airflow system to optimize the rendering of flavors. a Direct-to-Coil(s) airflow delivery.

Visually, Geek Vape rounded the atomizer, which makes its design softer compared to the previous, harsher, versions. The mounting deck, a velocity-type with two dual-post and 4 large slots to accommodate all possible build types and coil structures. With a diameter of 3 mm, it is perfect for advanced resistance coils like Clapton or Fused Clapton; it also allows using fine resistive wires, down to 0.3 mm thanks to efficient screws.

Coil building is made easy by inserting the legs into the slots and screwing them. A RDTA does not require long wicks to soak at the bottom of the tank. Just cut it a few millimetres after the coil and the pendulum effect will do the rest.

The Avocado 24 Bottom Airflow can also be used in single-coil configuration and comes with a chamber reducer, the Ceramic Block, made of porous ceramic material and silicon that enhances aroma from e-juices and reduces spit-back. Like on previous versions, it has a central hole to let the air flow through in the second position of the airflow system. A smart innovation that permits aerial vaping while reducing the volume of the atomization chamber.

Technical features of the Avocado 24 Bottom Airflow by Geek Vape

  • Tank volume: 4 ml
  • Diametre: 24 mm
  • Height: 47 mm with drip-tip inclus (37 mm without)
  • Drip-tip in Delrin
  • Mounting deck: Velocity-type with 4 slots
  • Material: Steel and Delrin
  • Threaded 510
  • Weight: 37 g

The Avocado 24 Bottom Airflow includes

  • Avocado 24 Bottom Airflow atomizer
  • Spare Pyrex tank
  • Spare screws and O-rings
  • Chamber reducer Ceramic Block
  • Multi-tool
  • Adaptor for drip-tip in 510

This Avocado is perfect for lung-hitters when both airflow slots are wide open. It also fits to a tighter vaping style with only one airflow slot just open. In this case, I recommend using the 510 adaptor to switch to a tighter drip-tip (not included) since the one included is very wide (12 mm). With the sake of an optimal rendering of flavors, the top cap is shaped as a dome, inside.

A couple of things wrong, however

Quite annoying are the drip-tip and the 510 adaptor that are not equipped with O-rings and locked with plastic. As a result, the two elements are very difficult to assemble or take apart, especially the 510 adaptor because of no grip. It can however be removed by pushing it away from the inside of the top cap. The O-rings on the top cap are strong and it doesn’t slide easily.

Another innovation is the mounting deck that works with a pull flap whose operation is quite fuzzy. It can be used to create a path before filling up the tank. If the wick is already wet, it requires using a tool to push it, otherwise juice leaks on fingers. In single-coil configuration, it’s easier, you just have to remember to fill on the side that is not occupied before inserting the reducer. The adjustable 510 pin is gold-plated for a better conductivity.

Finally, shutting down the airflow slots completely is impossible. A small opening always remains that creates leakage if the atomizer is left on its side. This is a limitation to its use outdoors.

The pack contains many parts, including a chamber reducer, a510 adaptor for the drip-tip, many spare O-rings and screws, a spare pyrex tank and even a multi-tool. To be complete, it should have included a drip-tip in 510 as well.

Wonderful vaping experience

With the Avocado 24 Bottom Airflow, vaping is more than agreeable. The architecture has been thought to optimize juice aroma and the vapor is dense and tasty. The magic formula “Bottom airflow + Dome-like top cap” is just a dream and sets this atomizer at the same level as a good flavor-oriented dripper.

The rendering of flavor is much better than with the IJoy’s RDTA series, for example. Built with a dual mix twisted coil in 0.2 Ω, the rendering is very soft and round at 50 W. Beyond 55W, overheating of the drip-tip and the top cap becomes fast.

Mouth-to-lung vaping is also possible for an every day use. With a stainless steel SS316 (0.32 mm) 8-coil resistance of 0.85 Ω, the airflow reduced to 1/4, the Avocado is just perfect at producing a dense and tasty vapor. A result that is hard to obtain with Ijoy RDTAs.

In summary

The “+”:

  • Good finish
  • Easy to build with one or two coils
  • Excellent rendering of flavors
  • Huge vapor production
  • Versatile for DL and MTL vapers
  • Very good value for money

The “-“:

  • Filling perfectible
  • Large diameter that won’t fit to any type of box
  • No O-ring on the drip-tip and the 510 adaptor
  • Leakage when laid on its side
  • Fuites en position couchée
  • Huge consumption of e-liquid depending on the configuration
  • No 510 drip-tip included

Conclusion

Rating of 4.3/5. With the Avocado 24 Bottom Airflow, Geek Vape would be close to perfection if only its RDTA was a bit more easy-going. Its large diameter prevents it from being used with single battery boxes. The top-filling system could have been much more simple and it leaks when carelessly carried away. Nevertheless, its performance in DL and MTL is outstanding, producing a dense vapor with always a great tasteat a very good price.
