During a research series and vapor news cycle, all we’ve seen repeatedly is that all the vaping information providers, journalists and writers have been mentioning as of recent, has been focused on one piece of legislation. While that one recent bill is indeed crucial, there is much to write about in reference to some other legislation introduced to Congress.

Regardless, that one crucial amendment is a great achievement. Not only for the vape industry but also for Congress and the U.S. populace. This is due in large part that the bill has another term attached to it, one that Americans are not used to hearing or seeing, especially at this particular juncture.

Teamwork Makes the Dream Work

That word is “bipartisan” – meaning this bill was introduced to Congress by a member of the Republican Party as well as the Democratic Party – thus, bipartisan legislation has stepped into the Capitol building and it has done so in the name of vapor on behalf of Congressman Tom Cole (R-OK) and Sanford Bishop (D-GA).

The Cole-Bishop Amendment is the biggest hope for a slice of justice in the vape industry, reminding the community there is still a designed ambition and desirable goal of having the predicate date changed through this piece of legislation introduced by familiar political allies.

Highlights of Cole-Bishop Amendment

Without this well-crafted act of governing the consumers may be forced to embrace a Black Market or reduced to choosing products that were only available prior to February 15th, 2007 – so basically, there would be no options.

Furthermore, the Cole-Bishop Amendment aka “The FDA Deeming Authority Clarification Act of 2017’’ – is now considered to be the only hope for the diverse industry as well as the entire community of vapers in the United States to maintain some form of freedom. The FDA regulatory deeming/damning rule has been set in place to ultimately destroy an entire industry of entrepreneurs and innovative concepts.

In reality, to oppose vaping, is to embrace smoking.

American-based independent vape shop owners and also indie eLiquid manufacturers are facing nearly unbeatable odds with not much assistance from the political community. Needless to say, American vapers are not pleased.

A lack of political support? As shocking as that may seem, there have been a dozen or perhaps a handful of public servants to the people of the United States who have been able to comprehend what is at stake and also have decided to actually acknowledge the negative effects on small businesses, threats to public health that the deeming FDA rule and overall harsh regulatory oversight will ultimately have. In reality, to oppose vaping, is to embrace smoking.

To Support Cole-Bishop is in the Best Interest of the Vapor Industry

A story very recently reported by Vaping Post highlighted how the vape community should all be essentially supporting the legislative bill which was introduced on the 16th of February. Congressman Tom Cole (OK-04), together with Congressman Sanford Bishop (GA-02), put forward the “FDA Deeming Authority Clarification Act of 2017.”

This long awaited legislation would amend the Federal Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act to change the nominated date for newly “deemed” tobacco products, ensure that licensing and advertising guidelines set for vaping products are practical, and push the FDA to set in place product standards for e-cig batteries.

Think for Yourself while also Unifying

Regardless, vapers must pray that any legislation that could possibly allow the FDA deeming rule to be revised or perhaps to allow the entire regulatory oversight to disintegrate, moving the community closer to a sense of security because many believe it’s about to get a little bit brighter for the vape industry.

Remember to read all the details of the legislation yourself and develop your own interpretation.

While it is crucial for the vape community to urge everyone to get involved. However, remember to read all the details of the legislation yourself and develop your own interpretation. Digressing, it is notable to keep in mind much of “deregulation” is essentially a form of regulation in itself.

While their proactive assistance and actual acknowledgment of the American war on vapor, in which this war sadly and rapidly is spreading on a massive global scale, there is a heavy need of assistance from political figures, especially because as of current the Cole Bishop Amendment has no co-sponsors and will likely remain on a slow road for quite some time. What these 2 members of congress have accomplished is surely impressive, but there is much more work to be done. Nonetheless, we have seen signs of solidarity and a display of undoubtable respect by these two brave and loyal public servants, Tom Cole and Sanford Bishop.
