A confortable autonomy

It has become habitual with Joyetech, the packaging is still complete and sleek. The white carton box contains a battery-tube od 2,200 mAh (the V2 classic only delivers 1,500 mAh), a clearomizer eCo ONE V2, two coils, two drip-tips, a user manual and a USB cable. Classical but efficient.

Using the eGo ONE V2 XL is simple and enjoyable. Its length of 142 mm and diameter of 19 mm for a weight of 110 g make a compact and lightweight device for beginners. A micro-USB charging that is also bypassed, allowing the user to vape when charging the heavy duty battery. A capacity of 2,200 mAh that provides an all-day autonomy of intensive vaping.

Technical characteristics

The main features of the eGo ONE V2 XL are:

  • A plastic Fire locate at the top of the battery (on/off with 5 rapid press)
  • A top-cap that complies with child safety requirements
  • Variable wattage, automatic from 20 W to 50 W
  • Tank capacity: 2 ml
  • 510 threaded
  • Two CL coils: 0.5 Ω and 1.0 Ω
  • Micro-USB charging, not protected by a cover
  • Two drip-tips: Delrin and Stainless steel
  • Remaining charge indicator with a flashing led
  • Material: Stainless steel, Pyrex, Plastic
  • Length: 142 mm
  • Diameter: 19 mm
  • Weight: 112 g
  • Battery capacity: 2,200 mAh
  • User manual
  • USB/micro-USB cable
  • Colours: Silver, Black, White, Red, Blue and Orange.

Two optional modes are offered with this new battery: direct output (white led) and constant voltage output (orange led). In direct output, the power is higher when the charge is maximum. Switching from one mode to the other requires to turn the device off (5 press) and to keep the finger on the Fire until the led has turned to the desired colour (orange or white) before turning on again (5 press).

The tank is reduced to 2 ml

A good point for this new eGo ONE, the clearomizer possesses wider openings compared to the former version. It allows a better control on e-liquid level. Its tank capacity has unfortunately been reduced from 2.5 to 2.0 ml to comply with the EU TPD. Filling the tank is still achieved by the bottom, it then requires unscrewing the head before starting the operation. It does not constitute an obstacle to use but filling would have been easier by the top, which becomes the norm on the market.

Compatible with the CL series coils, the eGo ONE V2 XL offers 2 coils, one subohm (0.5 Ω) for DL inhalation and one in 1.0 Ω for beginners vaping MTL. When used for subohm vaping, the atomizer may become very hot, especially in chain vaping and despite air openings wide open. A drip-tip in Delrin then becomes unavoidable.

Changing the coils is easier than ever and the manipulation can be made at anytime. Unscrew the clearomizer from the battery, unscrew the lower part of the tank with the clearomizer upside down. Unscrew the coil head. Of course, get prepared to have juices on your fingers, but it could have been worse.

Let’s have a closer look at the airflow ring. It is located at the bottom of the clearomizer and allows switching from tight aerial vaping. To operate it, firmly hold the base of the atomizer and rotate the tanks. Wide open, the production of vapor is optimum with the subohm setting in 0.5 Ω.

The clearomizer eGo ONE V2 behaves very well, except that it badly heats in subohm conditions. Even with narrow liquid supply holes, the thicker full VG liquids flow very well. Vapor is dense even with the 1.0 Ω coil. Rendering of flavor is correct without being exceptional for this type of clearomizer that performs better with the 0.5 Ω coil. No leakage has been noticed, which is an asset for eGo ONE V2.

In summary

The “+”:

  • Beautiful finish
  • Overall quality
  • Excellent rendering of flavors/density of vapor
  • Ease of use
  • No leakage
  • Good autonomy
  • Stealth clearomizer
  • Good value for money

The “-“:

  • Capacity: 2 ml
  • Overheating with the 0.5 Ω coil
  • Voltage not variable
  • Filling by the bottom

Conclusions

Rank of 4.3/5. Despite a few imperfections to fix like the filling of the tank by the bottom, the overheating or the low capacity (2 ml), this eGo ONE V2 XL kit by Joyetech is complete and easy to use, well finished, versatile and rather elegant. It may convince beginners with its ease of use and its tubular shape that is not without evoking a cigarette, and experimented vapers with its compactness. A good value for money with a price below €40, all included, and definitively an asset.
