NHS online smoking cessation services

Meanwhile in the UK, a new virtual NHS stop smoking clinic was launched earlier this year in partnership with Evapo, one of the UK’s largest vaping retailers, in a bid to support smokers in their smoking cessation during lockdown.

The online stop smoking clinic was launched during VApril, the world’s largest vaping education campaign aimed at encouraging smokers to switch to the proven safer alternatives. Now in its third year, VApril is organised yearly during the month of April by the UK Vaping Industry Association (UKVIA) and is strongly supported by health entities such as Public Health England (PHE) and the vaping industry alike.

Due to the current coronavirus pandemic, this year’s campaign had to go digital in order to reach smokers who were on lockdown. Similarly, some NHS stop smoking services, such as one based at Grovehill Pharmacy NHS Stop Smoking Clinic, have been offering virtual consultations with stop smoking practitioners, certified by the National Centre of Smoking Cessation and Training.
