The WVA collected pricing data and ranked the most popular vaping and alternative tobacco and nicotine products, across 13 European countries including Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Ireland, and the UK among others.

For vapers travelling across Europe, the UK and Czech Republic ranked the most budget-friendly options for closed- system vaping products, and Spain or France for open system devices. With regards to oral tobacco, Poland and Austria were found to be the most attractive.

“As vapers and travellers, we always run into the issue of finding desired products but also are frequently surprised with price differences. We hope this research helps vapers and alternative tobacco users more clarity on what to expect during their Christmas holiday travel,” says Mariam Gogolshvili, WVA campaign manager and co-author of the research.

WVA’s second bus tour coincides with the EU’s “Vaping Products Directive”

Earlier this year, the WVA launched its second tour, this year kicking off in Strasbourg with the aim of spreading the message that vaping can save millions of lives. WVA representatives met with several Members of the European Parliament to present their “Vaping Products Directive” showing how vaping can be used as a tool to fulfil its full potential for public health. This was accompanied by an art installation titled, “Don’t Let 19 Million Lives Fall”, a message that will spread across ten cities within six countries between October and November 2022.

Moreover, the campaign has coincided with the ongoing review of the Europe-wide tobacco legislation, Tobacco Products Directive (TPD). The WVA has previously participated in the EU Commission’s public call for evidence to speak out against flavour bans and excessive regulation. With this campaign the group aims to once again give the European vaping community a voice, in sharing their smoking cessation experiences via vaping.
