Although the design of the Sonder Q remains fairly traditional, it delivers a pretty great vape. It’s fully automatic, so you just inhale to make vapour. It’s compatible with Q cartridges which come in 3 different versions, making the Sonder Q an easy way to get into the world of vaping!

Simple and practical
With no buttons or any settings to adjust, the Sonder Q works completely automatically. It detects the coil value to deliver the right power level. The finish on the battery housing is slightly textured, making it extremely comfortable to hold. The pod doesn’t slip at all. On the front face there’s a small mirrored plate showing the name of the pod. When the Sonder Q is charging or in use, the letters light up. The colour shows how much battery charge is left. You just inhale to make vapour. We didn’t notice any delay between inhaling and vapour delivery.
A USB-C port on one side of the Sonder Q allows fast charging of the 1000 mAh battery. Considering the size of the pod, its battery life is average for products on the market right now. You can vape while it’s charging.
On the side opposite the USB-C port, there’s a slider to change the air flow volume for cooling the coil in the cartridge. The slider is tight enough that it shouldn’t move, even while you’re out and about.
You can use the cartridge provided for an indirect draw (mouth then lungs like a tobacco cigarette) by reducing the air volume. Allowing more air into the Sonder Q gives an airier draw. That allows for very restricted direct inhalation. It’s a good way of varying your vaping experience throughout the day.
As with most pods, the cartridge fits above the battery. It is held in place by two powerful magnets which prevent any sideways play. The cartridge contains a sealed coil. It’s the only thing we don’t like about the Sonder Q! When the coil wears out, you have to throw away the whole cartridge and buy a new one.
To fill the 2 ml tank, remove the mouthpiece by pressing its sides. The mouthpiece has a flattened shape and works with indirect and restricted direct inhalation, as it allows the right volume of vapour to pass through it.
The filling hole is covered by a thin silicone film inside the tank to stop liquid from leaking out when the pod is upside down. We’d recommend using narrow bottle tips which will be easier and prevent any overflow.
The Sonder Q comes with a Series Q cartridge. Its 0.8 ohm value works from 12 to 18 W. The pod is compatible with cartridges ranging from 0.6 to 1.2 ohm in the same range for an airier or tighter vape. We didn’t notice any leaks or seepage during our tests.
The flavours are delicious thanks to the brand’s new coils. It is accurate and effective. In our tests, we got the best results with fruity flavoured e-liquids.
The Sonder Q is a good pod that doesn’t need any real vaping skills to get the best out of it.
