Review: Pixo Max – Aspire

The Pixo Max by Aspire is a pod designed for restricted direct inhaling. Made from zinc alloy, it comes with a 0.4 ohm coil. Its comfortable 2600 mAh battery makes it pleasant to use on a daily basis, without worrying about having to recharge it too often.

A DL pod, but not only

The Pixo Max pod is supplied with a cartridge fitted with a sealed 0.4 ohm coil for restricted direct inhaling. Fans of a tighter draw can rely on compatibility with Pixo cartridges up to 1.2 ohm. The range of available coils is sufficient for most vapers.

Easy to get to grips with, the Pixo Max offers three power levels to vary the vaping experience.

A well-finished pod that is easy to use

The Pixo Max inspires confidence with its brushed metal appearance and detailed finish. A display is hidden beneath the pod’s casing and mainly shows the coil value and battery level. It is discreet, but not the most visible, especially when used outdoors in sunlight. The pod is supplied without a charging cable. Although most users probably already have several USB-C cables, it is always nice to have a dedicated one.

On one side of the Pixo Max, a USB-C port allows the integrated 2600 mAh battery to be recharged. This is battery life worthy of an 18650-format cell in a compact device. Right next to it, a fire button produces vapour. It is also used to adjust the power and the vapour activation mode.

Three power levels are available and are represented by an LED strip on the front that changes colour. With the 0.4 ohm coil, the highest level delivers 28 W, followed by 26 W at the intermediate level and 22 W at the lowest level.

Vapour is produced by inhaling and/or by pressing the fire button. This setting can be adjusted to choose a specific mode.

On the other side, a slider adjusts the volume of air that cools the coil in the cartridge. The more open this area is, the airier the draw becomes, allowing for a dynamic direct vape. Conversely, the more the opening is obstructed by leaving fewer holes open, the tighter the draw becomes, without ever moving beyond a very restricted direct inhale. The slider is firm enough to stay in position.

One cartridge is supplied with the device: a 0.4 ohm Pixo Dual Mesh cartridge. Its capacity is 3 ml, a standard value for this format. As usual, the soft silicone plug is lifted to access the filling port.

The coil is sealed inside the tank. The cartridge must therefore be replaced as soon as the first signs of flavour degradation appear.

In terms of flavour, it is a complete success. Aspire no longer needs to prove its expertise in coil manufacturing. Flavours are precise and particularly detailed. The finesse of the aromatic spectrum is remarkable.

Self-taught and curious by nature, I developed my journalistic skills in the field by joining the Vaping Post in 2017. As a former smoker who converted to vaping, I immediately felt the need to understand in detail all aspects of this smoking risk reduction method that has enabled me to successfully quit smoking where previous methods had failed.
review-pixo-max-aspireThe Pixo Max is an excellent pod whose flavour rendering places it among the best products in its category. Simple to use, it does not require any specific vaping knowledge. Its battery life, combined with the many available cartridges, makes it an excellent choice for getting started with vaping. The lack of screen brightness and the absence of a charging cable are regrettable.
