Luxury mindset

The Luxe XR owes a lot to its predecessor, the Luxe X, as the design and chipset are identical. What’s new is the option to change the coil, as it now also takes the manufacturer’s GTX coils. This makes the Luxe XR more versatile and more environmentally friendly because you don’t have to throw away complete tanks.

Compact and stylish

There are air vents on each side of the Luxe XR to cool the coil inside the cartridge. You can’t usually change the airflow, but changing the tank position also changes the draw, making it more or less airy. The two cartridges in the box deliver two different sensations.

The fire button is raised enough that it’s easy to feel for it with your finger.  It’s not too firm or too easy to press. Whether you vape with your thumb or your index finger, this pod is comfortable to hold. You can see the electronics and their Axon chip through the transparent pod casing. When you fire it up, three LEDs light up to show that it’s working properly and the remaining battery charge.

The design of the Luxe XR hasn’t changed much. It owes a lot to its predecessor, the Luxe X. Only the product name lettering is different, and they’ve got rid of the large X beneath the transparent casing. The finish is flawless. There are no sharp plastic edges, and the fit between the various components and paint finish are of a very high standard. This pod is pretty robust – we dropped ours a few times and it was fine. Of course, the tank fell out of the battery casing but we couldn’t see any cracks or scratches. What a result!

Two vaping styles

One difference with the Luxe XR is the tank. Unlike the Luxe X, you can change the coil in the cartridge without throwing the whole thing away. This is better for the environment and gives you a far wider choice of coils from the GTX range. Fitting the coil is extremely easy, even for a beginner. You just slide it into the dedicated slot. The coil is held in place by a set of seals which also make it really leak proof.

It comes with two cartridges and two coils. You get a lot in the box, so there’s no need to buy extra coils to start using and enjoying the Luxe XR. The 0.4 GTX mesh coil works at power levels between 26 and 32W, but you have to use the 0.8 mesh coil between 12 and 16W. The 0.4 ohm coil is intended for DL (direct draw into your lungs), whereas the 0.8 ohm coil is for MTL (into your mouth then into your lungs like a tobacco cigarette).

Both coils are excellent. They deliver clear flavours, a fantastic draw and great vapour. It goes without saying that the 0.4 ohm coil uses a lot more battery than the 0.8 ohm one, but it does make some pretty clouds. We really like is the fact that you can use coils from the GTX range and cartridges from the Luxe X.
